FEW ENERGING PIANISTS HAVE MADE AN IMPACT ON THE CLASSICAL SCENE LIKE JAN LISIECKI He started playing at age five, but has always rebuffed the label “child prodigy,” and at 22, has confirmed his status among the most imaginative and poetic pianists of his generation. His 2017 recording of Chopin works for piano and orchestras won the Ecco Klassik Prize—an album of which The New York Times said, “Lisiecki’s blend of youthful brilliance, refinement and grace are perfect for this music; all the performances are outstanding.” Click here for a preview! For this McCarter engagement, Jan has curated a program he calls Night Music which incorporates many facets of this genre of piano repertoire, including Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit, Schumann’s Nachtstucke Op. 23, and Chopin’s Scherzo No. 1 in b.
