The Monterey Jazz Festival is the granddaddy of all the big-time summer jazz festivals, boasting a legacy that ranges from Gillespie and Armstrong to Rollins, Mulligan, Harry James, Max Roach and Billie Holiday. Saxophonist Ravi Coltrane first appeared at the Festival in 2001, nearly 41 years after his father made his debut at Monterey in 1960. Gerald Clayton, Joe Sanders, and Justin Brown represent the next generation of rising stars.

Here is the lineup for this lively evening of music: Raul Midon for vocal, Nicholas Payton on trumpet, Ravi Coltrane on tenor and soprano saxophone, Gerald Clayton on piano, Joe Sanders on bass, and Justin Brown on drums.

Arrive at 7:00PM and enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail compliments of McCarter Theater. A coupon for that libation will be included with your ticket. Gather with other Harvard alumni in the West Lobby for good conversation before the performance. Wear crimson so we can easily find each other.
