Harvard Club of Princeton

The Harvard Club of Princeton is privileged to offer the opportunity for its members and their guests to attend one of these performances on Saturday evening, May 4th.  The artists that evening will be pianist Fred Hersch and soprano saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom.  The location will be disclosed after you have acquired your ticket(s).

Fred Hersch "specializes in high lyricism and high danger" according to The New Yorker and is "a master who plays it his way" according to The New York Times.  He is the first artist in the 75-year history of New York's legendary Village Vanguard to play week-long engagements as a solo pianist.  Fred's latest release Alive at the Vanguard has been awarded the 2012 Grand Prix du Disque by the Académie Charles Cros in France and has made the Best Jazz CDs of 2012 list in Slate and Downbeat.  You can find out more about him at www.fredhersch.com.

Jane Ira Bloom has been steadfastly developing her unique voice on the soprano saxophone for over 30 years.  She has also been described by Pulse as the possessor of "one of the most gorgeous tones and hauntingly lyrical ballad conceptions of any soprano saxophonist'.  JazzTimes described Jane as "a true jazz original, a restlessly creative spirit, and a modern day rile model for any aspiring musician who dares to follow his or her own vision".  You can find out more about her at www.janeirabloom.com.

JazzNights has been a labor of love since 2002 for Princeton residents and jazz aficionados Mary Wisnovsky, who has worked mainly in public relations and development for Princeton area non-profits, and Maitland Jones, a retired professor of chemistry at Princeton University who has lectured at Harvard University and is currently a professor of organic chemistry at New York University.
